Growing Socialism Disguised as "Credits" -- Beware!

It angers me that many conservatives — though they have done a great job at holding liberals accountable for their desired health care takeover — have not taken the President to task over his idea for student loan debt forgiveness.

I just graduated an online technical university about two years ago.  I work full-time for a living so many liberals would criticize me and probably say that it was because I wasn’t smart enough to study accounting in the Ivy League.  I used an online university for the convenience and paid about $50K for a standard Bachelor’s Degree.  I was an A student, I even did it full-time while I pushed through various tax seasons.  But I am proud of what was available and affordable to me and of my academic achievements.  All in all I felt good for working hard and getting through it.  Anybody could have done it, but sadly, many won’t.

As non-elite as my University was, just as Sarah Palin’s state-level university, I received a quality education for a price I could afford.  Just as Sarah Palin did, just as Reagan did, etc.

Just as Sarah Palin did, I CONTINUED TO WORK full-time through school and made monthly payments to the University.  I came out of it owing about $27,000 in student loans.  Palin came out owing nothing as she’d take breaks to work and save up more money to pay for another part.

For the last two years, I have made regular monthly payments.  In addition, I’ve sent extra payments towards the principal balance reducing the debt substantially.  I have a couple years left, but I will pay it, because I borrowed it!

University elites will continue to jack up education costs — the same university board members that contain the likes of folks like Obama and Bill Ayers.  What better way to hand it all out to folks than to offer a tax credit of up to $10,000 for students, right?  So, basically, we get 100 people doing what only 10 had the courage and wisdom to do without the government steak waved in front of them.  Less competition, less folks caring about the quality of their education, less folks paying attention, plus a lot more beer drinking and pre-marital sex.

Why?  Why don’t we notice the President’s own words in his State of the Union address where he announced plans to forgive student loan debt after 20 years for anyone?  And what happens if you enter college and prep for public service?  Yep, you get your debt forgiven after only TEN years!

This is a blatant attempt to grow socialism which involves buffeting children in the public schools, entice them to enter college and rack up $100K in debt and wind up paying back only about half of that.  Then what happens?  Are the schools going to reimburse the government the difference or will it be burdened on taxpayers?

And just why does a choice for public office get you a 10-year faster benefit for loan forgiveness?

Could it be that we want kids dependent on the government from the moment they enter school to the moment they get their first job?  Could it be that we are working to church out a greater number of government workers than we are free-market capitalists?  Then what happens after that?  More votes for the future Hugo Chavez’s of this country!

Folks, if this “proposal” becomes a reality, we are looking at a disaster that will cause as much trouble as the United States Government getting its hands on health care.

Say NO!  Otherwise the Congressman representing your district in 20 years just might be a person who couldn’t pay off his own damn debt that he created and felt entitled to.

We already see what happens through Obama, the Clintons, and even worse – the Kennedys – when politicians are bred from birth.  The best politicians who delivered the best for Americans like Washington, Reagan, or even Palin as leader of her town or state — are people who were forced to be Americans first.  People who were forced to work in the free market.  Not in universities, law schools, and fancy prep schools.

If this disaster happens, you can expect millions more in the next couple of generations.

Shutter Island, Liberalism, and YOU.

I saw Shutter Island last night and I must say, it’s a great film anyone looking to take the wind out of their Friday sails. I think the most uplifting part of my night was the Iron Man 2 trailer. After that, it was all insanity and sad stories and Nazi Germany war crime flashbacks.

With that said, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character,Teddy Daniels, asks a great question at the end of the film: “Is it better to live as a monster or die a good man.”

I promise I won’t ruin the film like someone who tells you Bruce Willis is dead at the end of Sixth Sense, but I would like draw some parallels between this film and the federal government:

Teddy Daniels gets himself stuck in a federal penitentiary for the criminally insane. Many of the inmates don’t even know they’re locked into an insane asylum. They put up mental barriers to block any knowledge that the federal government is holding them, and often concoct rosy realities to deal with their loss of freedom.

In some ways our world is the flip side of that coin: very sane people like Peggy Joseph, who I mentioned shortly before seeing the movie, are actually trapped in a federal prison without even knowing it. And yes, they’re so deluded that they think Barack Obama will make their mortgage payments!

As I mentioned yesterday, government dependence is like a drug. It saps the will of free people to realize their greatest potential. It’s the federal government saying, “You need me,” when…you don’t.

Think back on your own life milestones. Think back to all those moments where you had to dig and scratch and claw and fight for something you weren’t sure was attainable–and the moment where you questioned whether you had the strength or the intelligence or will to go on–right before you succeeded. How did you feel afterward? If you’re like me you were shocked, heartened, and invigorated. And if you’re like me you were a little disappointed in yourself for all the times you second-guessed yourself and thought about giving in, knowing that if you had done so the success before you would have never been realized.

And THAT is what a massive federal government takes away from its people. And THAT is a crime. Politicians who promise you the stars in the sky at someone else’s expense (“e.g., “fat cat” businessmen, “Big Oil”, “Wallstreet”, etc.) aren’t telling you the whole truth. Sure, they’re taking money from a third party and redistributing wealth (which is also wrong), but they’re also stealing something much more important than money–from you. They’re stealing the spark that turns what’s special inside of you into an explosion of technology, art, ideas, businesses, and acts of greatness that benefit all mankind. And you should be livid. And you should be angry. And you should not drink the water.

Because when you refuse to take their little pills, they’ll be the ones who go insane.

Partisan Healthcare, straight up or on the rocks?

Pills

Watch the man behind the curtain, I’ve been noticing a lot of political things being said while the opposite is enacted. It just happens that House Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid play their games really well, if you like that kind of slimy leadership.

Who thought voting these types of politicians into our Congress was a good idea anyway? Don’t you like things being above board?

If you were an entrepreneur and had to appoint a board of directors to become an S Corporation, are you going to consider people that tell you what you want to hear or tell you the truth? Would it do your corporation any good for those directors to bulldoze ideas into policy at the expense of relationships, real solutions, ethics and quite frankly, the very viability of the company.

Your Board of Directors are supposed to be seasoned business people that have an ethical obligation to direct your company down a successful path, giving honest opinions regarding new or tried and true business strategies, techniques and investment decisions.

Pelosi mentioning she has an ethical house doesn’t mean it’s true, her stating something that might sound good doesn’t mean it’s really so. It’s a non-accountable lie, as the game is played. If our media was doing their job ethically we would be inundated with unaccountable lies. You can readily find evidence that actions or motives are opposite of what she said but technically, if confronted she was only mistaken because she “may” have believed what she said. Unaccountable lies, like placebos, do work sometimes.

As Senator Lamar Alexander laid out his request to the President of scrapping the proposed plan and start fresh with a clean sheet of paper in a non-partisan manner with economically sound alternatives to incorporate, Pelosi and Reid couldn’t even look at him as he spoke. The two mostly just stared straight ahead until the speech was finished. That was a clear indication of contempt and disrespect, not behavior one would hope for the caliber of their positions. The president’s behavior wasn’t very presidential either, while the whole forum explicitly showed the distasteful ploys of not playing nice, I fully expected the three, at any moment would pick up their bat and ball and go home, which they eventually did.

Pelosi’s stance on the healthcare freight train could also be construed as dogmatic pretense. A recurring suspicion regurgitated in the pit of my stomach as her, Reid’s and Obama’s speeches choreographed with a blatant disregard to the opposition was unbecomingly focused on who could out dramatize each other’s stories of suffering, I suppose an attempt proving the right to healthcare as opposed to a privilege.

I couldn’t even listen to Reid’s speech, I was so disgusted.

If you believe that healthcare is a right, then it must follow that you ultimately believe that irresponsible people have the right to be a burden on the responsible. Or that irresponsible people have the right to infringe on the rights of someone else. Why? If someone overeats, smokes too much, drinks too much, doesn’t exercise, practices unsafe intimate interactions, drives carelessly, puts minimum or no effort into their upward mobility in the business world etc. has the right to make someone else pay for their poor choices then the people that have to pay have their rights revoked.

Another argument is, if healthcare is a right then certainly other things not deemed as rights (governmental handouts) would be considerably more essential to life than healthcare such as water, food, housing, clothing, a job, a car to get to that job etc.

For the lawmakers that pretend to be going forth with a gift for the American people because they deserve it is farcical, nothing more than a power grab. It was unnecessary and unfair for the Democrats to write up the bills while blocking any Republican participation in the first place. They wrote what they wanted to ram through congress and over a year into it claim they’re giving one more shot at bipartisanship after a Scott Brown wrench was thrown in.

The President sat at the table and whined, basically saying the Republicans kept throwing those good ideas at me and I’ve already rejected those good ideas so I’m just going to call them “talking points”. The President having to remind us he is the president and reminding John McCain that the election is over is just tactless. Who is the arrogant one still in campaign mode?

Let’s not even focus on the egregiously economic drain the massive healthcare proposition currently debated would have on an already overly spent deficit. Let’s instead focus on the fact they couldn’t even implement and procure a solvent Medicaid and Medicare system in the first place, nor Social Security program for that matter. All those brilliant economists in government and as consultants couldn’t even devise a self sufficient plan for all those New Deals. Medicare was discussed for over two decades before being signed into law in 1965.  Probably since its inception they knew the programs could never be sustainable, even when the public found out the trouble these programs were in they haven’t been able to come up with solutions to fix the existing noose around the economy’s neck. Yet they want to deliver us another new deal. They would have had more credibility and subsequently more support by fixing what they already had in place.

Remember socialism isn’t for the socialists, it’s for everyone else, the socialists, progressives and federal employees all have primo healthcare plans (Cadillac plans) while pretending to throw us a bone,  they want to redistribute your wealth not theirs.

In an interview on Sunday, Mr. Obama said he did not regret pursuing health care in the first year of his presidency, even though he intends to place a higher priority on job creation this year.

Mr. President, I don’t think I’m alone on this one, but I regret you didn’t focus on job creation as your first order of business; instead you let it slide for year two and pursued everything but.

First Lady Michelle Obama Shares the Emotions Behind Her Movement to Boost Kids' Health

Posted by: Audiegrl
First Lady Michelle ObamaWashington Post/Robin Givhan~~First lady Michelle Obama sits in an upholstered armchair in her East Wing office, a generous bowl of fresh apples on a nearby table. She wears a body-conscious gray sleeveless sheath with an artful corsage of matching fabric decorating the right shoulder. A petite Georgetown student — one of the young ladies from the White House mentoring program Obama established last year — quietly observes as the first lady discusses the role physical fitness played in her Chicago girlhood.

The tableau contains all the elements that have defined Obama’s time in the White House: youth outreach, distinctive style, healthful food and fitness. Of all these, nutrition and physical activity are key to the legacy Obama would like to leave. They’re essential to her national rallying cry to end the crisis of childhood obesity in a generation.

Obama launched her sweeping initiative, Let’s Move, in an early February publicity surge that had her discussing “food deserts” and the urgency of clearer labeling. She lobbied the National Governors Association before its members partied at the White House. She visited schools and at a Philadelphia grocery store pulled out a $20 bill to buy a banana-strawberry smoothie. The statistics she has repeated are both jarring and daunting: One in three children is overweight or obese. The dollars she has proposed the federal government dedicate to the dilemma are significant: at least $10 billion over 10 years.

President, GOP offer health care reform ideas before summit

Health care reform proposals from the president and GOP will take center stage at a Feb. 24 bipartisan summit that the White House hopes will pave the way to enactment of broad reform. President Obama’s plan builds on the Senate-passed bill, with higher thresholds triggering a “high-cost plan” excise tax and new rules for employer plans. House Republican leaders are offering a bill to curb medical malpractice lawsuits and let insurers sell policies across state lines, among other things. Amid the legislative uncertainty, a Mercer survey finds that most employers have yet to take major action based on potential reforms.

Hurting the U.S. in the “Muslim World”

In 2006 University of South Florida computer-science professor Sami al-Arian pled guilty to aiding Palestinian Islamic Jihad and was sentenced to more than four years in prison. At the time of al-Arian’s arrest, then Attorney General John Ashcroft called it “one of the most violent terrorist organizations in the world.”

Before al-Arian pled guilty, Rashad Hussain (appointed Deputy Associate Counsel to President Obama in January 2009) told a 2004 panel discussion on civil rights at a Muslim Students Association conference in Chicago that al-Arian’s very prosecution was “a travesty of justice” that fit a “common pattern … of politically-motivated prosecutions.”  read more

Why would any true conservative vote for Tom Corbett?

I wouldn’t.  I don’t know what Tom Corbett stands for, and besides, he’s a self-proclaimed, unapologetic moderate.  Just the same, there will be other conservatives that will vote Corbett despite that they, too, have no idea what he stands for.

Why would strong minded, intelligent, conscientious conservatives settle for party when they could have a principled candidate of the people, like Sam Rohrer, instead? Sadly, I believe when it comes down to it, voters have more faith in the party than in the people.  If this faith-challenged group had as much confidence in the people, as they do in the GOP’s ability to influence votes, surely they would feel free to vote for principle, values, honor and integrity above all else.

That said, my intent is not to insult intelligence by heralding what may be obvious, but rather to narrow in on the challenge and the solution.  If we’re to erect the strength of our resolve, it seems to me we must first establish it amongst ourselves.

And it’s not like we’re not trying.  We assemble here and meet there.   We create groups, websites and so on. We reach out and so many work tirelessly to grow the movement,  but in my humble opinion, what we lack most is communication that can unite us.  I suspect we are much larger than any of us is aware, but size alone will not keep the movement afloat.  The  great Titanic may never have sunk, after all, if it had utilized communication with the nearby Californian.  Our size and strength will only have an impact if we are able to conceive it.

There is a group on Facebook that may have the potential to help us conceptualize the size and strength of our movement.  Pact for Principles in Pennsylvania Politics, is an online location where we can gather under one roof.   Not only is it a place, however, it’s a pact.

Why Facebook?  Of all online social networks, not only is Facebook the fastest growing, it has so many members that if it were a country, it would be the fourth largest in the world.  As of April 2009, half of Americans had a Facebook page.  Certainly the GOP has one.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a Tea Partier, Patriot, 912er, Republican, Libertarian, Democrat–whatever. What matters is that we have a public place to assemble under one roof, where we can see names, faces and numbers that can win.

If we can spread the word to our like-minded friends that such a place exists, and direct them to it, we can establish evidence in numbers that will build the confidence we need to make the grassroots flourish.
